Q. What is RuttersRewards?
a. RuttersRewards is a customer appreciation program that grants cents off savings on fuel for many items purchased at Rutter’s Stores. Any customer can belong – just inquire at store level about getting a card and registering your participation. It’s easy and you can start saving on fuel purchases immediately.
Q. How do I earn gas rewards?
a. Purchase participating items and receive cents off per gallon reward for each individual purchase. Minimum reward is one cent off per gallon – some items may carry higher reward values and other items such as cigarettes, milk, lottery, money orders, gas and gift cards are excluded. Items like milk and cigarettes are excluded because we already sell those items at the minimum price allowed by law. There will be signage at stores to indicate what items earn rewards.
Q. Is there a limit to the dollar value of rewards that I can earn?
a. No. Only a time limit. Rewards are good for sixty (60) days.
Q. Is there a gallon limit on the number of gallons I can purchase at one time?
a. Yes. 20 gallons and the pump will stop. If you need more fuel, you may conduct another transaction immediately at the current fuel price.
Q. How can I keep track of my balance?
a. Easily. Go to www.RuttersRewards.com and enter your member number and PIN. If no Internet access available, use the toll free customer service number – 1-800-586-0789. It’s located on the back of your card.
Q. What if I lose my card?
a. If you lose your card, please do the following: obtain a new card from any Rutter’s store. Call 1-717-771-5963 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your NEW card number and your OLD card number. As long as your card is registered we can determine if there is a balance on the old card and transfer it over to the new one so no cents per gallon rewards are lost. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the balance that was on the old card will still be there when we get the old and new numbers.
Q. How do I register and why should I?
a. You may register your card online by going to www.RuttersRewards.com and filling out the application, entering your card number and PIN. This will only take a minute and allows you to query your balance online and let’s us notify you when there are enhancements and other advantages to the program that you will want to take advantage of. If no Internet access, fill out the application in the brochure, return it to the store, and we’ll register your card for you and have the ability to contact you via phone if necessary.
Q. How do I use my RuttersRewards card?
a. You’ll receive one magnetic stripe card and two key chain cards. Please remove them from the plastic forms. Also remove the peel off label from the back of your card. Both keychain cards will identify you at the point of sale and place rewards on your account for qualifying purchases. Give our associate your keychain card every time you purchase at Rutter’s to make sure you don’t miss out on any rewards. We recommend that you keep your mag stripe card (the one that looks like a credit card but isn’t) in your car, since this is the card you’ll need to swipe at the pump to redeem your savings. Also you should remove the sticky paper label on the back of the mag stripe card before you use it.
Please note that if you scan your rewards card twice in the same transaction, it will nullify the reward action. If this happens just press cancel at the pump and start all over, i.e. Scan your rewards card, then follow directions.
Q. Are all fuels included?
a. Yes. All three grades of unleaded gasoline: regular, mid grade and premium are included; as well as diesel and kerosene. Program limits are twenty gallons of maximum redemption.
Q. How long are my rewards good for?
a. Sixty days. Our program has a rolling sixty-day life. On day sixty-one, the awards you earned on day one expire and so forth. We advise you use your accumulated rewards every time you purchase gas at Rutter’s. This will guarantee that you won’t lose rewards because they have expired.
Q. How do I redeem rewards?
a. Just swipe your mag stripe card at the pump and follow instructions. The pump will indicate the amount of your savings and ask if you want to redeem them now. If yes, the pump price will roll back to your price (you’ll actually see it roll back to the lower price) and you’ll save money on gas. The amount of savings per gallon and your total savings will appear on your pump receipt if you request one.
Q. What if my available awards are greater than the cost of fuel?
a. Our pumps will roll back pricing as low as 1.9 cents per gallon. If your balance exceeds the price of fuel, whatever difference there is will remain on your card. For instance, if you have three dollars and the price is two sixty, the pump will roll back to 1.9 cents per gallons and you’ll still have thirty-eight cents remaining on your account.
Q. When I use my award under normal circumstances, does it consume the entire amount of the award?
a. Yes. When you press yes to redeem, it will roll back your price and hold that price for twenty gallons. If you pump less than twenty gallons your award has been used; if your tank holds more than twenty gallons, the pumps will stop at twenty gallons and not continue.
Q. Can I earn rewards if I don’t have my card?
a. No. You must have your card and have it scanned before payment is tendered for your purchase. The system has no ability to recall your account without your card or add rewards at a later date from a transaction made without a scan of your rewards card.
Q. What if the system is down when I make purchases of items subject to cents-off rewards?
a. Your account will still be credited with the awards amount. Even though it will not show on your receipt at the time, the software has the ability to store and forward transactions that occur during communications interruptions.
Q. Can I redeem my awards at the pump when the system is down?
a. No. If the pump communications software is down you will be unable to redeem your awards at that time. This happens infrequently and you may redeem your rewards at your next visit.
Q. What if I can’t recall my PIN?
a. You can reset your PIN by clicking on the “Forgot Your PIN?” link on the home page of Rutter’s Rewards.
